Clipper offers these flue duct expansion joints to lower life
cycle costs in hot air and gas handling applications. These
three models are used in dry service primarily for their resistance
to high temperatures. They feature a composite belt design
consisting of an inside layer of aluminized fiberglass cloth,
followed by a layer of thermal insulation which is covered
by a layer of untreated fiberglass cloth. Next is the gas
and vapor seal outer belt, a fiberglass cloth reinforced EPDM
elastomer on the LX-501 and a fluoropolymer coated fiberglass
cloth, with a PTFE laminate, on the LX-801 and LX-1001. Finally,
the unique properties of the aluminized fiberglass cloth inner
liner are utilized at the metal flanges by wrapping the liner
around the edge of the composite belt and under the clamp
bar. This design feature provides both thermal and physical
protection to the belt, assuring longer life. In each case,
the outer belt provides gas sealing and chemical resistance
for the temperature limits indicated.
