Style 206 EZ-FLO Expansion Joints

EZ-FLO expansion joints contain a single wide flowing arch, eliminating the need for filled arches on slurry services. They are successfully used in all major industries, including pulp and paper, steel, waste and water, HVAC, power generation, chemical, petrochemical and marine.

  • Self-flushing design eliminates media buildup that can restrict movement
  • Less fluid turbulence
  • 250 psig (17 bar) rating for longer life
  • Lightweight design for easy installation
elastomeric expansion joints

GUARDIAN® 306 EZ-FLO Spool Type Expansion Joints

Featuring a flowing arch design, these expansion joints have a mechanically-bonded FEP lining that resists delamination. They are designed for the chemical processing and pulp & paper industries, where their ability to resist corrosive attack at normal or elevated temperatures and pressures is unequaled.

  • No media build-up
  • Less turbulence/vibration
  • 250 psig (17 bar) rating for longer service life
  • Liner extends to O.D. of flange, preventing chemical attack

Style 204, 204HP Spool Type Expansion Joints

Used to connect concentric pipe flanges in concentric or eccentric tapers and in connecting piping of unequal diameters, these expansion joints can be constructed as single or multiple arch types. Custom designs are available for full movement capabilities after installation, ideal chemical compatibilities and easy installation.

  • Fully lab and field tested for long life and installation reliability
  • Seamless flange face requires no gaskets
  • High pressure/vacuum rating ensures greater safety in a broad application range

GUARDIAN® 200 Expansion Joints

These expansion joints utilize a chemically resistant FEP liner mechanically bonded to an abrupt arch. Chlorobutyl cover is used, and the expansion joint is coated with a blue protectant for resistance to environmental effects. (Alternate cover materials available.)

  • Reduced delamination, and no glue to be chemically attacked
  • High pressure/vacuum resistance for broad application capabilities
  • Use of high density FEP reduces permeation

Style 8400 Flue Duct Expansion Joints

A wide range of Garlock flue duct type expansion joints for lightweight applications is available from Johnson Packings. This line includes round, rectangular and square configurations as belt type (without flanges) or U-type (flanged), with virtually no size restrictions.

  Rectangular and square flanged designs
    • Available in the typically-requested 6", 9", 12" and 16" face-to-face dimensions, as well as alternative dimensions
    • Ducts with any leg smaller than 30" will be built on a metal form with column corners and will have movement capabilities of 1/4" in all directions

  Round expansion joints
    • Can be supplied in any size, with or without flanges and/or an arch, with movement capabilities unique to the expansion joint size and arch configuration
    • Manufactured in a variety of materials, such as neoprene, chlorobutyl, fluorelastomer, nitrile, EPDM, Hypalon, white neoprene, white EPDM or natural/gum rubber

  Belt type
    • Supplied in any size, with or without an arch, in the same materials as round flue ducts
    • Installation width and arch configuration dictate movement capabilities
    • Supplied open-ended (wraparound) or continuous to fit over ducting

Style 9394 Multi-Convoluted Expansion Joints

These lightweight expansion joints are designed for low pressure applications that require significant amounts of movement, axially and/or laterally. They yield low spring rates that are ideal for load cell applications.

  • Available in flanged or sleeve type designs through 48" I.D.
  • Up to 3 psi maximum pressure with no external reinforcing rings required
  • From 3 psi to 15 psi maximum pressure with external reinforcing rings

Styles 214/215 Expansion Joints/Flexible Couplings

These PTFE expansion joints/flexible couplings are designed for chemical processing, air conditioning and heating piping systems.

Style 214   Style 215
  • Concentric spool-type coupling     • Concentric spool-type coupling
  • Two convolutions     • Three convolutions
  • Maximum temperature +450° F (230° C)     • Maximum temperature +450° F (230° C)
  • Maximum pressure 178 psig (12 bar)     • Maximum pressure 132 psig (9 bar)
  • Full vacuum to +350° F (180° C)     • Full vacuum to +180° F (80° C)

Metal Flow Liners

Metal flow liners are utilized in conjunction with elastomeric expansion joints to provide protection from abrasive materials or solids. Flanged at one end, installed at the head of the flow, metal liners are tapered to a 5° angle, allowing the expansion joint to laterally deflect.

  • 10 gauge liner flange thickness
  • 12 gauge liner body thickness
  • Standard material is 304/316 stainless steel, with titanium and Hastelloy C available
  • Special metal liner configurations with reducing or multiple arch design expansion joints available
